As well as being one of the foremost British colour woodcut artists of the early 20th century, John Edgar Platt also produced a small group of exceptionally fine engravings in 1929/30. This charming image is one of a group of four engravings included on the GALLERY page of this issue
A London based print dealer for over 30 years, Hilary Chapman is a specialist in original British etchings, engravings, lithographs, wood engravings, colour woodcuts and linocuts. Currently the gallery hosts a large stock of affordable prints by established artists, with a particular focus on wood engravings and colour woodcuts of the early 20th century. Hilary has an MA in Art History, and regularly authors catalogues, monographs, and articles on key British printmakers. Published catalogue raisonées include the work of Geoffrey Wales RE, Ethelbert White RWS, John Edgar Platt, James Bostock RE, and Yoshijiro Urushibara. The gallery is located in Richmond and works are available to view by appointment.
