The Jetty, Sennen Cove. Colour woodcut 1921
The colour woodcut in the Japanese manner is enjoying a period of rediscovery and popularity. Books, articles and internet blogs are being written, and more information is being gathered on the many artists in Europe and America who adopted the technique during the early decades of the twentieth century. You may be interested in an exhibition being held in September at the St Barbe Art Gallery in Lymington, Hampshire where the colour woodcuts of two important British artists, John Edgar Platt and Allen W Seaby, will be on view in significant numbers.
